The Insomniac's Assistant - Sienna Tristen - Fine Press
The Insomniac’s Assistant is a verse novel about the struggles, stresses, and strange joys of the sleepless. In one of the oddest examples of Bring Your Friend to Work Day, follow the protagonist on a typical night of soothing a city to sleep, and experience the magic that creeps into the world in the small hours. Each vignette is a window peered into late at night, a furtive glimpse between the curtains at the tender battles being fought inside.
Sienna Tristen’s debut work of poetry sheds light on all the anxieties, insecurities, and obsessions that keep us up at night—then imagines a presence comforting enough to tame them.
The Insomniac's Assistant has been hand-bound by Brianna at Penrose Press The cover has linocut printing in several layers on the outside, and inside a soft cityscape lit by dusk and dawn depicts the beginning and end of the story. Linocut illustrations that feel like headlights skimming through slat blinds are dispersed throughout, sharing the pages with digitally printed text. This book measures 5.5" by 5.5" and is sturdy enough that if it lulls you to sleep and gets lost in your bed, you won't crumple it in the night. The Insomniac's Assistant has been published in a limited edition of 200 copies, and is also available as a paperback here.
