The Insomniac's Assistant with Sleep or Else
They were made together, and now they are apart, but you can have both. In an effort to be a little kinder to the environment, Penrose Press took the blank paper they knew would be cut off of The Insomniac's Assistant and formed it into its own entity pre-production. Thus, Sleep or Else.
The Insomniac's Assistant
by Sienna Tristen
The Insomniac’s Assistant is a verse novel about the struggles, stresses, and strange joys of the sleepless. In one of the oddest examples of Bring Your Friend to Work Day, follow the protagonist on a typical night of soothing a city to sleep, and experience the magic that creeps into the world in the small hours. Each vignette is a window peered into late at night, a furtive glimpse between the curtains at the tender battles being fought inside. Sienna Tristen’s debut work of poetry sheds light on all the anxieties, insecurities, and obsessions that keep us up at night—then imagines a presence comforting enough to tame them.
This handmade book measures 5.5" x 5.5" and is full of beautiful details. The covers and illustrations are letterpress printed linoleum: all luxurious colours, textures, and patterns.
Sleep or Else
Edited by Natalie Lythe
This miniature collection of sleep feedback is meant as a tool for the sleepless. The title is intended to be less of a threat, and more of a question: sleep or else what? The first half includes sleep strategies and the second includes accounts of dreams, for when unconsciousness is finally achieved.
Our hearts and souls are in these books and we hope you enjoy them!
